The tonemapping window could use an option to automatically adjust levels, this would make comparing different tonemapping settings far easier since often a good setting is initially hidden by the fact that the levels need to be drastically adjusted to make it look good.
Bump.
It would be a real time saver to have auto levels that would set the darkest pixel value to be the black clip, and either leave the white clip value alone, or set the brightest pixel value to be the white clip.
Bump for 2.2.0.
I'm not sure if auto-levels has been implemented or not because the preview in 2.2.0 is certainly much better than I remember it to be (thank you for that!), but I still have to tweak levels to make the output decent. Certainly in some cases the levels sliders are not clipped to the minimum/maximum levels visible in the histogram.
In fact, we haven't. I wrote a draft for this functionality, but it didn't work properly in a few cases, so I decided to leave it out for the moment: I will come back to that later on.
However, the Gamma and Levels dialog now processes the frame in floating point space, retaining all the details of the original outcome. I know it is not the same thing, but I think it is a good feature that can "fill" the gap temporarily.
