directory if you are having problems trying to get
gnuqueue running at your site.

I will post more patches if I keep trying to use this
system, but the code really needs a full overhaul, so
if nobody is interested (seems that way, looking at
this site), then I probably won't bother.

This GQ thing seems like the perfect system to do what
I want to do with my cluster, not too complicated, much
better than scripting rsh to do dispatching, etc.
Should be easy to show non-programmers how to use it.
Something like condor seems way to complicated for my
taste, with computers so cheap, many setups are
dedicated and features like checkpoint add way too much
complexity to the system.

If you are interested in gnuqueue, reading this, and
want more support, please post a reply message and say
so. Otherwise, if what I have so far is too buggy to be
useful, and nobody else is interested, its off to
condor or Sun GRID.

aclocal.m4
before execution. We have a set-up where there are more
machines available than we have licences more a
particular task. I wanted to use GNU queue to only
allow n jobs to execute at any time, and pick the
lowest loaded machine to run it on.

My solution was to have a quese for each licence type,
setting the maxexec value to the number of licences of
that type we have. All machines are listed in all the
different queue profiles, with the same pfactors and
vmaxexecs in each.

Below I've attached the profile for one of the queues
which I though should only allow 1 job at a time.
Unfortunatley it tries to run more than one at once.

I'm using GNU Queue version 1.30.1.

Can anyone help?

Queue Error Messages

Hi,
after we had the problem that the 1.4 Version couldnt be
installed on our sun solaris (was another job here) we
installed the older version 1.30.1.
Using this version we sometimes get error mails like
that:

subject: queued error on sunsrv01.intern.ksp.de:
QueueD: Received invalid cookie. In NO_ROOT,
COOKIEFILE must

mail text: the same on all machines! Received cookie:
VERSION1

QueueD: Received invalid cookie. In NO_ROOT,
COOKIEFILE must be
the same on all machines! Received cookie: VERSION1

I have absolutely no idea, what happens and how to fix.
Any ideas?
I am trying to install the "queue".
I tried on solaris05 and Linux Red Het 7.1. I am
getting the following same error message.

I do not know what to do?
I followed a few steps of script on command line and I
was able to compile "conftest" file.

Any more information is very much appriciated.

boxes, all running Rh7.1
One of these machines is on my desk, the other 2 are
in a different room.

If I submit a few jobs to the desktop machine's wait
queue or the now queue, all is working properly. The
jobs are processed all right.

If however I specify one of the other hosts the output
of the command appears to confirm that the command is
accepted by the remote machine but if I check the
spool dir of that machine I can't find a job id (or
cooky-file) nor is the job submited executed by it.

The output of the queue command is something like:
queue -v -i -q -p -h calqlater1 -- R --no_save
<script.R

Requesting load average for queue "wait" on
host "calqlater1.holmes.nl"...
Host "calqlater1.holmes.nl" appears to be able to
serve queue "wait".
Ok, connecting to QueueD at it.
Trying "calqlater1.holmes.nl"...
[jobou@marvin work]$ Going to submit job to
queue "wait" on host "calqlater1.holmes.nl".
queue.c: main(): tty(in/out/err): 0 0 0.

So what am I doing wrong here?
Can anybody help?
