If the meta-datas are broken or just not there, all is placed under unknow, so it's all part of the same artist / album wich is bad.
RhythmBox should offer the possibility to display information as it is on disk. My music is organized with a root folder, containing artist, containing albums, containing music files. If the hierachy is based on path starting at the "import folder" point, you get a very usable and simple way of navigation.

Meaning it is easy for me to browse files with nautilus, it should be as easy to browse them with rhythmbox.

If nobody wants to fix it, maybe I'll do it and send you the modifications...

Thanks ;)

Support for usb external storage

Currently if you have your library in an external usb hd and you start RB without plugging in the hd, RB begins to find missing files and deletes them from his DB.
It would be better if, as Songbird does, it did nothing when the main library folder is unmounted.

Play spare file (not in library)

I like very much RhythmBox and its integration with the Gnome Desktop (i.e. Music Panel Applet).
I like also the Small Display mode.
Nevertheless I would really like RB to go a step further in this direction by being able to be a replacement of Totem regarding audio files:
I would like RB to be my default audio file player for Gnome.

The behaviour I would like to have is:
double click on an audio file -> RB launches (if not running) possibly in mini mode with the playing queue filled with the selected file (without adding it to the library maybe) and starts to play it.
double click on an audio file when another file is playing -> RB adds the file to the current playing queue.

I wasn't able to get this behaviour from the current version: I cannot pass a filename to RB from the command-line obtaining this effect.

Add Radio to Queue

It would be very nice, if it was possible to add (web-)radio-stations to a playlist (eg. the end of the playlist) so that after all songs are played, radio goes on

lastfm love track button

last.fm "love track" button somewhere in the ui or in a right-click submenu

Copy Playlist to Location

I think that it would be a great feature if you could right click a playlist in the playlist section and select "Copy to Location". This would then copy the files somewhere (I'm thinking of my USB stick MP3 player).

Automatic tagging

It would be nice to use on line databases such as Gracenote, CDDB, or FreeBD to do an automatic tagging of songs.

I could pose as an example what Winamp does in Windows with Gracenote.

open folder for selected song

Please consider adding the ability to quickly open the folder containing the selected file. Perhaps something similar to winamp mini players (a small bar with the file name scrolling and basic controls.) also the ability to keep the mini player on top of all windows and have adjustable opacity levels. This is all mainly for the aesthetic and convenience part of the player.

i'd love to have rhythmbox look and be more convenient. you guys have already done a great job with it.
