Thank you for reporting this. I am able to reproduce this failure as well and am working on a patch to update the code to try the SG comands if the normal CDROMEJECT ioctl fails. I suspect that if you run "eject -v" that you will see similar output:

$ eject -v /dev/cdrom

eject: device name is `/dev/sr0'
eject: /dev/sr0: not mounted
eject: /dev/sr0: is whole-disk device
eject: /dev/sr0: trying to eject using CD-ROM eject command
eject: CD-ROM eject command failed
eject: /dev/sr0: trying to eject using SCSI commands
eject: SCSI eject succeeded

emulation, but with this emulation (lilo modified, and
proper modules loaded) reports an error code 14 with
(when option in Config|Wav forces -d /dev/scd0) or an
error code 32 (option empty in Wav section of the
Config menu). The scsi emulation allows for data cdrom
correct mounting, and the gnome "CD play" succeeds in
playing audio files with the scsi emulation. xmms has
similar problems with scsi emulation.

I have a laptop fujitsu siemens lifebook S5582,
(PIII-M), with a debian sarge (kernel 2.4.26, not yet
customized), updated. I recently upgraded it to sarge,
and ripperx was perfectly working before, on a woody
with the scsi emulation.

Thanks for your help...

requirements and have used the Slack Packs provided by
Xgates from www.SlackCare.com and have used it to rip
about 30 cds and then all the sudden it stops working
as when I play the file it has no sound at all. From
there the files are around the correct size have
id3tags so I would think they have info and not just
blank files.. I have asked in #slackware in
irc.freenode.net and many other good people that are
slackware savy but unsucessful on that. I'm running
Slackware 10 on kernel 2.6.7 with everything else
working but this after a little time. It usually does
like 30 - 40 cds and in the middle of that just stops
encoding with sound or something. I have even went
into the config and checked disable cdparanoia which no
luck at all. Some help would be appreciated sometime..
