Locale dependence

On WinXP Pro SP2, in Customize Regional Options dialog, on tab Numbers, *List separator* has to be "," (comma).
When other character is set here, PolicyChecker failes evaluating Policy.XML rules.
Errors 0x8000FFFF on lines 928, 1605 and 1897 in PolicyChecker are reported in Event log.

Windows AutoPlay programs ignored by RAA

Hello,

RAA seems unable to detect and elevate the privileges of programs invoked from Windows XP AutoPlay mechanism. For example:

1) Install ImgBurn (http://imgburn.com/), which registers some Autoplay Event Handlers.

2) Add a new AlwaysTrustedLevel policy condition for ImgBurn.exe. Condition can be path or hash-based, it doesn't matter.

3) Test the new policy by double-clicking on ImgBurn.exe from an Explorer window. Program starts with Administrator rights.

4) Insert a DVD movie into the DVD drive, and select "Create an Image using ImgBurn" from the AutoPlay window.

5) ImgBurn.exe starts up only with User rights, not Administrator rights.

I have had this same problem with SuRun, as well. It's strange, because according to the Windows Security audit log, the parent process of the AutoPlayed ImgBurn.exe process is Windows' Explorer.exe. Shouldn't RAA be able to detect and elevate this new process?

Policy evaluation problem

Adding the built in confirmation dialogs changed the policy evaluation process also. Because of bad implementation the process skips the second pass of evaluation (where the annoying rules runs) if the request came from shell extension. Also can bother you with false 'Unrestricted startup' confirmation question anytime if the requested level less restricted than defined in the policy. The confirmation of less restricted run than defined in the policy does not happen if the requested level is not 'Unrestricted'

Always Run As... By Hash miss functioning

The 'Always Run As... By Hash' context menu items adds entries to the policy By Path also instead of by hash.

XP spends 30+ seconds on the welcome screen

When starting Windows (XP Professional SP3), the welcome screen is displayed for 30+ seconds. What is the reason for this? Can this delay be eliminated?

RAA has two disabled buttons

The 'Font' button on the options window, and the 'Check for update' button on the about window.

If these were intended for future use, perhaps they should be removed until the functionality has been implemented?

rundll32 in policy not works

Addig %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\rundll32.exe to level rules makes rundll32 not to start.

Some config changes take effect only after RAA restarted

Some setting changes (like privilege caption info) have no affect immediately, works only after RAA restarted. :(

High CPU consumption when updating window title bar

I use RAAS together with putty. The problem arises when putty loses its connection to server, so it's not hard to reproduce it. I didn't deeply analysed the origin of this problem, but remarked that the icon on the title bar is flickering and when I unchecked the option of showing privileges icon on caption, the problem stopped. It seems that putty is changing its title bar and RAAS is constantly placing its icon. Maybe adding a delay of e.g. "windows tick" (55ms) is the best solution.
