While we might or might not want to switch to a different preprocoessor in the long term, there are some issues with the current one that could be solved by merging a new upstream version:

We need C23 __has_attribute support.
We need C23 #embed support.
We are missing some files (at least support/cpp/gcc/config/i386/xm-mingw32.h) that are apparently needed for cross-compilation (see also https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/pull/26732/files#diff-c23ffad87d85edcdd57c5f8c1294eebb30be30de930132245b42b94fc93daacc).
