Hi all,

I've a strange case in which one Mac can seamlessly find the test and with the same Config File and SEB-version, another one cannot.

The test system tells it: 'You have to use the Safe Exam Browser', indicating something is wrong with the Browser Key?

The SEB version is 2.3.2. It works fine on Mac 10.13.6, but not on this specific 10.14.6

I've attached the log file,

start session:
2021/06/04 13:45:11:449 ---------- INITIALIZING SEB - STARTING SESSION -------------

I think maybe this is were it went wrong?

2021/06/04 13:46:03:365 didStartProvisionalLoadForFrame request URL: https://inholland-acc.testvision.nl/online/fe/afname_toetsen.htm

But I really cannot tell what happens here...

Probably that Mac has some software installed which changes network requests. Proxy software changing the URL which SEB receives in requests from the server (so the URL for each request isn't exactly the same on the Mac and on the server) will cause both the ConfigKey and the BrowserExamKey checks to fail.

It might help if you can post the configuration file used for the exam.

Thank you for your response. I believe it was this one.

I would need the quit and admin passwords (if set) to have a proper look at it.
Note that we recommend to use the ConfigKey/BrowserExamKey checks with SEB configurations saved "for starting an exam", not with client settings like this. Client settings are not really meant to start an exam session, as they would be stored on the exam device even before the exam and therefore can easier be hacked than exam config files dynamically loaded from a server at the time of the exam.

We now prefer to use the client setting, so students only update twice a year when we introduce the new version of the browser. If we had to make a new SEB config file for every exam we expect a lot of work and helpdesk traffic.

Or do I misunderstand this and can 'for starting an exam' be used for multiple exams?

Anyways, for this problem it does not matter much...

    password is; TVpeter123
    No quit password

Also, if the proxy settings are the problem, will this be solved by overriding the local settings by configuring a protocol in Networkpane/ proxysetting in SEB?
