Welcome to the one and only release candidate for SharpDevelop 3.0! Your feedback in our forums is highly encouraged to help us decide what needs to be fixed for final release.

With our Beta 3 release we ran into versioning issues with the included IronPython assemblies. Therefore, we’d like to ask you to uninstall any previous builds of SharpDevelop 3.0 and do a clean install of the release candidate. Please do not upgrade an existing beta installation! Your existing settings will be preserved by uninstall / clean install.... read more

1) Release Information

SharpDevelop 2.2 is a bug fix release. It is fully compatible with 2.1, which means that all addins built against v2.1 will continue to work unmodified in 2.2. Please note that setup overwrites existing 2.1 installations, however, will preserve users settings from the old installation.

Work on SharpDevelop 2.1 started on 12th February 2006, two months before we shipped Beta 3 of SharpDevelop 2.0. Since then, we have been busy implementing new features that in retrospect would have qualified for an increment of SharpDevelop’s major version number!

SharpDevelop 2.1 has entered release candidate testing with RC1 being available today. Most of the work has been focused on bug fixing, details on those changes are available in our bug tracker (a short version is in Start Page / History). We are now on the home stretch for releasing SharpDevelop2! Today marks the day of RC2, the final release candidate for SharpDevelop2. Download and install this build onto your machines and take it for a lap. If you find issues, then please report them in our bug reporting forum:

The release version of #develop 1.1 has arrived, only minor fixes have been incorporated since the December release candidate. With this release, feature development of the 1.x series has ceased.

After the Preview Release, this is now the official Beta of version 1.1. New to version 1.1 (compared to 1.0) are the following addins: NAnt integration, Help 2.0, XML editing, PInvoke and #report. Improved are the support for WiX, VB.NET code completion and the text editor - InitializeComponent is marked read-only by default. In addition, Web References are now supported by the project system. Version 1.0.2a is a stopgap release - we found a critical bug that could result in lost work, and thus we decided to release a interim version immediately. In addition to the crucial fix you also receive improvements that are already done but were earmarked for the next planned release. For details of the changes in this release please see the change log.

Note: the critical bug was introduced between versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 if you are using 1.0.1 or older, you aren't affected, but we still do recommend that you upgrade to the latest version.... read more

This is another bug fix / maintenance release for the #develop 1.0 branch. Improvements were made to various areas, such as the VS.NET project importer, Forms Designer, code conversion and code completion especially notable is that now MC++ assemblies are supported too, which means you get full code completion for DirectX!

Post-RC3 we have spent time almost exclusively on bugfixing, improving feature experience and enabling long-awaited ones: Ctrl+Space for VB.NET as well as project-level import for VS.NET being the two most wanted. In SharpDevelop Fidalgo RC1, we introduced regressions via some of the memory and performance optimizations that we hope to have fixed in RC2, escpecially in the area of code completion. An additional area of improvements is the setup, which is now much smaller, registers file types and GAC assemblies for NUnit. Thanks to your plenty bug reports, we were able to fix a lot of small as well as showstopper bugs.
