SharpDevelop 2.2 is a bug fix release. It is fully compatible with 2.1, which means that all addins built against v2.1 will continue to work unmodified in 2.2. Please note that setup overwrites existing 2.1 installations, however, will preserve users settings from the old installation.

Work on SharpDevelop 2.1 started on 12th February 2006, two months before we shipped Beta 3 of SharpDevelop 2.0. Since then, we have been busy implementing new features that in retrospect would have qualified for an increment of SharpDevelop’s major version number!

After the Preview Release, this is now the official Beta of version 1.1. New to version 1.1 (compared to 1.0) are the following addins: NAnt integration, Help 2.0, XML editing, PInvoke and #report. Improved are the support for WiX, VB.NET code completion and the text editor - InitializeComponent is marked read-only by default. In addition, Web References are now supported by the project system. Version 1.0.2a is a stopgap release - we found a critical bug that could result in lost work, and thus we decided to release a interim version immediately. In addition to the crucial fix you also receive improvements that are already done but were earmarked for the next planned release. For details of the changes in this release please see the change log.
Note: the critical bug was introduced between versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 if you are using 1.0.1 or older, you aren't affected, but we still do recommend that you upgrade to the latest version.... read more

In SharpDevelop Fidalgo RC1, we introduced regressions via some of the memory and performance optimizations that we hope to have fixed in RC2, escpecially in the area of code completion. An additional area of improvements is the setup, which is now much smaller, registers file types and GAC assemblies for NUnit. Thanks to your plenty bug reports, we were able to fix a lot of small as well as showstopper bugs.
