I saw in the template section some parameters for
confocal microscopy.
I think it would widen the usefulness of SIDB if other
microscope types
and parameters could be set as well.
The following jumps into my mind right now:
Scanning Electron Microscopy: parameters=beam energy
(keV),
spot size (no unit as far as I know), detector=
scondary eletron (SEI)
backscattered electrons (BEI)

Near-Field Scanning Optical Microscpy (NSOM or SNOM)
image types: topographical, optical, internal sensor,
parameters: scan direction (forward or reverse), scan
rate (typically Angstrom/s)

Of course, there would be many more microscopes and
parameters, but I think the above would give it some
start.

Since SIDB deals with microscopy images it would be
interesting to
see the magnification displayed together with the
picture. The user
could either enter the magnification him/herself or it
could be calculated
from picture settings. Perhaps a few typical
magnifications could even
be preseted in a pull-down list for the user to choose
from.

What do you think of it?

These are the features I think about implementing. Let
me know which ones you would like most!

1. Group images in projects. Projects themselves can
also be grouped in projects allowing for file-system
like browsing.

2. Multiple image upload

3. Create a mechanism for a site-administrator to add
specific fields to images/templates tables and pages
