I cannot understand the use of vectors

Hi again,
It is not clear to me why there exist there blue vectors in merge tab. When I have more than one pictures and push them nothing happen. Is there a special use of these vectors?

Problem with preview tab

Hi again,
The only thing it seems I can do in preview tab is to select the background color. But there is no preview in my screen even I set my background color.
The only way to see my new picture is to save it, and then open. But that is not a preview :)

Problem with "Save as" button

The save as button in Split tab does not seem to work. Nothing happens when I push it!

Problem with Split Tab

Hi,
When I'm merging two pictures horizontically, and then I save the whole image, I try to split them selecting the split tab
But nothing special happens, as there is no choice for me to split my image. Is there another way to do it, or something I didn't understand?
