<div class="markdown_content"><p>This is very similar to request 953116, which was closed several years ago as "should be fixed soon", but doesn't seem to be.</p> <p>Essentially, I'd like to see the x highest-rated comments for a story, instead of always seeing all comments rated y or higher. I'd suggest two settings, a minimum number of comments and a preferred number of comments. The minimum would be a hard value, and could drop the rating to -1 if there weren't enough comments at higher levels, while the preferred would be a softer value.</p> <p>Example:<br /> -1: 500 comments<br /> 0: 150<br /> 1: 100<br /> 2: 60<br /> 3: 45<br /> 4: 25<br /> 5: 10</p> <p>Preferred Minimum Min rating (comments) shown<br /> 15 12 4 (25)<br /> 15 10 5 (10)<br /> 20 10 4 (25)</p> <p>And so on. It would allow me to get a feel for the discussion about an article without having to change my minimum rating every time I switch from an older article to a newer one, or vice versa.</p></div>
