This would make the API slightly clearer and harder to
misuse by accident.  The constructor would also need to
be changed to  throw an exception when given a null
direction.

with Java GUIs. Somebody should enter this in the JCP
and get Sun to include it in the J2SE. Spin is tiny but
tremendously useful\!

Until then it would be nice to see this software under
a somewhat less restrictive license than the GPL. As
far as I know GPL prevents me from using Spin in a
commercial project. How about BSD license?
