Twould be nice to be able to choose the "style" of view that we wanted:
i.e. the default
or "all in a row" like MS has currently [like vista], etc. etc.
I'd be happy to come up with a patch for it if it would be accepted.

Custom shortcuts

Would be nice having customizable shortcut keys for the items in the task list. I prefer DELETE button (instead of X) to close the application and SHIFT+DEL to terminate it (instead of T). Handy for sorting out the clutter. Why does "X" close the TaskSwitchXP as well? TaskSwitchXP should close only if the closing application poped-up a confirmation dialog box (to save the changes, etc.)

Disable "Minimize to Tray"

I don't really like Tray Icons!
I tried to disable the right-click-option "Minimize to Tray" by modifiing the .exe with Reshacker but only got as far as having the option without any caption.

I would really like an option to disable the function to "Minimize to Tray" and a the option to disable right-click in the Alt-Tab-Window at all would be nice as well.

I think this would be quite easy to add to this really cool, usefull and small program.

Hi !

first of all : i REALLY love TaskSwitchXP :)
but there is one thing that would be nice : make it portable.

I looked at the source code and i found that you use the Windows registry to read/save your settings ...

Would it be easy to store the settings in a text file instead ? (i think we need to modify funtion like "LoadSettings()" and be aware of how the "ImportSettings" would react without using the registry, hum ...)
The config file could be located in TaskSwitchXP.exe's directory.

This way i could put the TaskSwitchXP.exe and ConfigTsXP.exe on an USB drive and, wherever i go, i could execute my favorite ALT+TAB switcher software without having to reimport my sttings each time i use a different computer ;)

Maybe a param on the command line could be use to enable this feature (ParseCommandLine() ...) (ex.: "TaskSwitchXP.exe -noregistry")

Anyway, because TaskSwitchXP is free and that you made the source code available, i'm looking to make this possible, but because you wrote the code maybe you will have a better idea of how this feature could be implemented :)

I would like to specify the key or mouse combination to call up the selection / thumbnail screen.

In Preferences->Appearance->Position on Screen

I would love to see an "Under Mouse" (or something) option that will put the open up TSXP and put the first item under the mouse cursor.

I have a mouse button bound to TaskSwitchXP so I can use it sorta like Expose on the Mac, but it would be a lot closer to that (or at least even more reasonable a substitute) if it had this option.

My feature request should improve the general usability of this great tool.

If I start ALT+Tab I have a certain application/window in mind that I want do bring to the front. To get fast there it is important to know how many times do I have to push ALT+Tab to get there.

If I only look at the preview it is a trail and error process - I see the current preview and if it is not the application I wanted I have to go to the next and so on...). At the moment only the icon list can give me that information (ok, 3 icons further is the application I need -> so I push 3 times ALT+Tab).

BUT: if I look at the icons I can not look at the preview at the same time which makes the preview feature nice but nearly useless for fast switching.

My suggestion:
What about implementing a list of previews that replace (or complement) the list of icons. This would make it possible to orientate oneself on the basis of the preview (instead of the icons).

add shortcut keys to context menu

it would be nice if the context menu had shortcut
keys, especially if they were the same as the shortcut
keys in the main taskswitchxp window when possible.
also, you could display the main window shortcuts to
the right, like how copy has ctrl+c to the right of it
in most menus. it would save me a trip to the help
file when i can't remember a shortcut key.

eg.:
&switch to space, enter
&minimize f2, m
mi&nimize to tray f3, n
&cascade c
tile &horizontally h
tile &vertically v
restore f6, <
maximize f7, >
close f4, &x

and

also, is there any way of opening the main
taskswitchxp context menu (show process info, ...)

switching though internet tabs

hi, i love your program, only missing the option to be
able to switch within the internet tabs such as in
opera and firefox (and also in microsofts ie 7
upcoming). just same way as it is possible to go
through the applications, this "subtabs/instances"(or
however to be called) would be great to have them

small search option for names of programs could be
helpful. Just by pushing F a dialog box can appear and
I can put phrase I want to find in list of programs.
Another option..
Just simple search in list of programs, simmilar to
total commander -> can be configured so that when I
push keyboard key e.g. o -> the marker on list is
marking opera (if opera appears on list).
