from the user manual:
"
A homogeneous symbol has the same outline, but different pins for each part in the package.
A heterogeneous symbol has a different outline and different pins for each of the parts in the package.
Use homogeneous symbols when the parts are interchangeable. Use heterogeneous symbols when the different parts represent different aspects of the symbol and therefore cannot be interchanged.
"
currently homogeneous replicate all the anotaions and every graphics, not only the pins. so it is useless, see bug #195
currently my workaround resolution is to use heterogeneous but with the same pins. diffrent anotation / graphic.
but I have to copy the pins to the exact place in part B as they were in part A.
it will be helpfull if the heterogeneous will replicate everything from part A to part B, but only once when creating part B.
it will also be helpfull to have an option to copy the symbol diagram from one part to another.
it can be for heterogeneous, but also for homogeneous.
currently running version 2.80.08 build #631
This is under 'Bugs' as well.
I think you can do this already with 'Homogeneous' type with the proviso that the symbol graphic has to be the same for all sections.
The proposal would effectively eliminate the distinction between Heterogeneous and Homogeneous if you could copy (or not) the previous/another symbol section wholesale as a new section. Quite nice.
(All symbols would effectively be Heterogeneous with individual graphics for each section. More storage needed?)
If you could also add or remove sections without having to go back to single section it would be even better. (Select the tab at the bottom and <right-click> copy/insert/move/remove as in a spreadsheet Number of sections would be updated automatically)
(May have implications for error checking if old and newly edited symbols of the same name are present.)</right-click>
