I've been using tivodecode for a while and it works great. But I recently cganged from Comcast to Verizon FIOS and I have occasionally been getting errors while decoding some .tivo files.

I have done some research and have determined the problem occurs when Verizon broadcasts its periodic EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM. I'm guessing that the format is being changed from HD to SD or from 16:9 to 4:3. But when the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM ends, the MPG video is corrupted and will not continue. On one sample I have, the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM comes on at 1:48:09 into the movie and runs until 1:49:00, but the movie duration only shows 22:51:50. When the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM message completes, I get a black screen and the counter ticks up starting at 22:00:51 and continues until the end.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

I looked for a newer version of tivodecode but the most recent I see is from 2007-08-28. I also downloaded the source hoping I could fix the problem myself but I guess I don't have the background in MPEG file formats to find the problem and fix it.

I can supply a .tivo file that has the EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM video embedded.

Any suggestions?

ts_handle_tivo_private_data failed: No error

Hi,
I'm sporadically having some problems with tivodecode in conjunction with kmttg.

Here is the result of the command "tivodecode --version":
I have been looking forward to this ability for a long time.

There's only one small oddity that I wanted to report. After running a file through tivodecode and playing it in VLC, the time counter goes at about 1/3rd time. An hour long recording is listed as being somewhat over 19 minutes. It plays fine, its just that the counter moves quite slow.

Most of my tivodecode usage comes through the NowPlaying widget or this Automator script I picked up, but since they just call tivodecode I don't know if that's relevant. Its a minor bug, but I'm hoping it may be a relatively minor fix too.

Thanks,

"D:\My Videos\BSG\tivodecode.exe" -m ********** 1.tivo

Obviously my MAK is masked, but I get a stream of data scrolling by in the window, for a minute or so. Then the scrolling halts, and my csrss.exe process essentially pegs my CPU and renders my machine pretty much unusable. I have not been able to kill the process by any of the usual means, and have to reboot the computer. I don't get any output file at all.

I've tried a handful of times with variations, all with the same results.

Am I munging the syntax, or does this not work on Battlestar Galactica episodes :)
