unfortunately it seems my thinkpad t42p does not support some of these important options to use hotswappable ultrabay batteries and system battery together.
i installed debian lenny 5.0.2 on my tp, installed tp_amapi as shipped with the debian repository, but my tp seems not to support these options.
i downloaded latest sourcepackage tp_amapi 0.40 from sf, compiled and installed (after removing old deb package and unloading old module) and loaded the new module. but my t42p still does not have force_discharge, charge start/stop threshold and inherit times.

what information do you need to support these functions on a t42p? if you tell me, i will try to find out everything you need :) if <you tell me how to find out :)
thank you.

It seems that the current po/Makefile doesn't consider any *.po files. I've added the file LINGUAS with the line "de", but it doesn't work yet.
I was running the following commands after svn checkout:

./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local
make
make install

Some of the GUI is already in German, provided by libglade. But there is no file configure-trackpoint.mo in /usr/local/share/de/LC_MESSAGES.
The (still incomplete) de.po is attached.

Patch HDAPS whitelist for X200

Whitelist entry for x200 (Axis swap and inverted y).

Add X200 hdaps support

It'd be nice to have x200 support.

Synaptic package support on Ubuntu 7.0.4 Feisty

Could not find Feisty packages for configure-trackpoint under http://cl.naist.jp/~eric-n/ubuntu-nlp

I'm using Ubuntu Hoary 5.04 with default kernel
2.6.10-5-386.
I extracted kernel-headers with
sudo apt-get install build-essential
linux-headers-2.6.10-5-386
I extracted thinkpad-5.8 in /usr/src and did
cd /usr/src/thinkpad-5.8
make all
make install

It seemed to work well and I was able to insert
thinkpad with "modprobe thinkpad".

THE PROBLEM:
But "modprobe thinkpadpm" failed with

Aug 30 09:40:10 localhost kernel: thinkpadpm: Unknown
symbol put_cpu_ptr
Aug 30 09:40:10 localhost kernel: thinkpadpm: Unknown
symbol get_cpu_ptr

in dmesg.

THE FIX (?):

modify thinkpadpm.c functions apm_bios_call and
apm_bios_call_simple
Compare with Ubuntu kernel 2.6.10-5-386 source
arch/i386/kernel/apm.c functions of the same names.

FROM:
//BEFORE desc40_ptr = get_cpu_ptr() + (0x40/8);
//BEFORE save_desc_40 = *desc40_ptr;
//BEFORE *desc40_ptr = bad_bios_desc;

TO
cpu = get_cpu();
SAVE_desc_40 = per_cpu(cpu_gdt_table, cpu)[0x40 / 8];

AND FROM:
//BEFORE: desc40_ptr = save_desc_40;
//BEFORE: put_gdt_table();

TO
__get_cpu_var(cpu_gdt_table)[0x40 / 8] = save_desc_40;
put_cpu();

This makes the thinkpadpm module insertable.

CONCLUSION:
I can't conclude anything. I don't know what thinkpadpm
actually do, so I never found out if the "fix" was needed.

Please mail me if you have questions to the above:
