Problems with German umlauts, too

Hi,

I had the same problem as Mike.
When I use the generated code inside my document
everything works fine.

My problem is, that I cannot put the generated code in
an own file und import it into my document. In this
case the German umlauts disappear again.

I have a large TeX-File, so I import every chapter by
\input{chapter.tex}

How can I use \input{pic.txp} without dissapearing
German umlauts?
