When switching the PHP CLI version to the latest available (8.1.0) there is an error in the default index.php file.
This error does not display itself until you exit and re-open wampserver (restarting the services doesn't do it)
The errors given are as follows:

The path ${INSTALL_DIR}/www for DocumentRoot does not exist (File D:/wamp64/bin/apache/apache2.4.51/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf)
The path ${INSTALL_DIR}/www/ for <Directory ... does not exist (File D:/wamp64/bin/apache/apache2.4.51/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf)

This also occurred when the C: drive was the default drive.
Upon switching back to an older version, this error does clear itself, and comes back upon returning to the newer version.

    Additional Note:
This happens with PHP 8.0.13 as well.

    Hi,
There is no problem with Wampserver 3.2.7 and PHP 8.1.1 or 8.0.14 CLI.

Moreover, it is clearly stated in the instructions for use :
