As this is not a patch right now, because there is no development branch yet, I post it in features. It will go to patches later on.

I include the table proposal so anyone can discuss it here.

AJAX

AJAX interface so that the page does not reload.

conditional moves

Sometimes you play a sequence of maneuvers making your opponent reply with forced moves.

It would be nice to have a possibility to simply programme your answer to your oppononent's obvious next move in advance.

It works on gameknot.com for example.

Play WebChess via email

It occurred to me that it would be useful if Webchess could be expanded to increase its use with mobile devices that do not have fully functional web browsers by allowing play via email.

This could be accomplished by expanding the capability of the email notification system by allow it to accept moves/commands via email responses to a central email address.

As in a Mailing List application, the users could issue moves/commands to play Webchess. (e2-e4, offer draw, list users, challenge user, etc).

The mail notification system will need to be expanded to show the current board position (ASCII I imagine)
Ex.

rnbqkbnr
pppppppp
........
........
........
........
PPPPPPPP
RNBQKBNR

This feature should be more than possible with a MTA (Sendmail, Qmail, Exim, Mercury mail, etc) that can forward emails to a .php program for processing.

I will be working on a proof of concept and will post the link here as demonstration.

Instant messaging support

I'd like to have support for instant messaging, i. e.
to recieve a notification, when someone else invited
me, send me a message within webchess or it's my turn
in an active game. I prefer the jabber protocol,
because it's also free and easy to use.

There's a php implementation of a jabber client at
http://cjphp.netflint.net which can be used in the
following way:

function messageIM() {
require("class.jabber.php");
$jabber = new Jabber();
$jabber->Connect();
$jabber->SendAuth();
$message = array();
$message[subject] = "WebChess";
$message[body] = "The opponent has moved.\nhttp://
your-webchess-website.net/";
$to = "user@jabberserver.example.net";
$jabber->SendMessage($to,"normal","",$message,NULL);
$jabber->Disconnect();
}

I do have this feature working, but it only works for
my user and it only notifies my about the opponent
making his move. So please implement it in a way it
works for all users and all events. If you need further
information, please contact me.

Interface to chess engine for Human vs PC play.

Any thoughts on the feasibility of creating an
