&lt;p&gt;This will take the whole display equation and group it so following functions can be applied to the whole equation.  For example:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4+5*3 is in the display.  Press Group Functions and that changes to (4+5*3) so that way all following operations are applied to the whole function. &lt;p&gt;Set up the backspace function so that when &amp;lt;&amp;lt; is deleted it deletes both &amp;lt;&amp;lt; and not just a single &amp;lt;. That way it is easily portable to other web applications and interfaces.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It's main interfacing function will be compute("string") and it will return an int or false (false if there are calculation errors).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For example in the calculation display:&lt;br /&gt;
ln(1)+3&lt;/p&gt;
