When comparing directories, it'd be handy if files that are different
showed the #lines difference between them in a subtle way.

Attached is a screenshot showing what I mean.

Handy when comparing software projects for generating release notes;
often a new software release will have /all/ the comment headers changed
by one line (to indicate the version# and copyright header), so all the files
will seem different, even though it's only different by the copyright and version#.

By being able to see the line count difference, it'd be easy to tell
which files to focus on, knowing to ignore all the files with a line dif
count of '2', because one would know ALL the files had at least that many
lines changed.

It'd also be easier to focus on files with the largest differences.

Could be added either as a separate column (similar to the file count column
that already exists at the top of each directory listing in the side-by-side
filename report, and possibly be sorted by that count..!), or perhaps just a
tiny number right justified on each line near the scrollbar (see attached screenshot).
This could be an option, just like showing line numbers is..

Full QT4 Support

As many have said, it would be nice to have QT4 support... There is partial support there. In the 0.3.2 source archive in src/qt4 there is a partial patch that gets you some of the way there. I tracked down the remaining issues I had that kept it from compiling. I haven't fully tested it but it seems to work, although it looks a bit funny. Not fixed enough to get it included in distributions again. but if it's the only tool for the job, it can do it now.

Add click-to-jump on the overview

Attached is a patch which adds a feature to xxdiff which is available in xdiff on AIX, and possibly others.

With this patch a click on the diff overview area on the right hand side of the window causes the diff view to jump to the approximate area of the diff.

automatic word wrap of long lines in side-by-side display

It would be very very useful to have an automatic soft
word wrap of lines of text that are longer than the
width of the panel for comparing paragraphs of English
text from word processors.

Add "File->Print" menu

Add "File->Print" menu to print a landscape view of two
files. Print it in *color*. PostScript is the
language of choice.

Display Total number of diff hunks

Looks like xxdiff does not show the total number
of diff hunks when two files compared. For example
"Total number of diffs : 12".
This would be a very good feature and helps a lot.

Similarly, when merging automatically, it would be
ideal to display the number for merge conflicts which
are resolved automatically out of the tatal number of
merge conflicats. For Example, "10 out of 12 conflicts
resolved automatically."

Using wdiff with xxdiff

I think it would be nice to be able to use wdiff from
within xxdiff. Wdiff compares word-by-word but ignores
line-breaks and is very nice when diffing two
plain-text files where the line breaks has changed due
to inserted text.
