  • hands down best encryption tool , audited, no backdoors, open source, cross-platform, what can you ask more?
  • thx
  • The only encryption tool in Open Source. It might be the only one without a backdoor as well. We will never know.
  • I've been using Veracrypt for about a year now, and it was working flawlessly. Suddenly, I could still MOUNT the drive, but I cannot ACCESS the drive. When I click on the drive, I get a message "You need to format the disk in drive M: before you can use it." I have tried everything, but at this point, it looks like I have lost all the data. And if Veracrypt offers tech support, I have yet to find it.

  • Perfect substitute for the old TrueCrypt, thank you!
  • Have been using this product frequently for 2 years now, with very little problems. I found it very reliable.
  • Updated 7(units) Windows 10 Pro Systems with a 256G SSD as a primary drive with boot partition and a 2 Tb 5400rpm secondary data drive. ** This was the first time VeraCrypt was ever employed in any situation by myself. The instructions and decision making are difficult for the novice and challenging for the mid-level administrator. You will be OK once the necessary documentation is read and understood. "Read the manual" applies. The primary drive was fairly simple to set up but the second drive took some research and tinkering. ** 2nd drive) Select the data partition of the second drive, there may be a guid boot partition of like 128 Mbytes that you would choose to leave alone. Encrypt and assign a drive letter that you would least likely make use of. This is because you will be mapping this drive as an encrypted container to a drive letter that you will be using. (the second drive essentially makes use of 2 drive mappings). Mount the second drive with password/or other selected options and go into options for system favorites. Set your encrypted drive mapping of the second drive to be auto-mounted as a "system favorite" at boot time. The initial drive mapping of the second drive should be unavailable when trying to access it. The encrypted drive mapping will be accessible. Do not elected to format the drive initial mapped secondary drive after encryption as this will obviate the desired security. Make sure to apply the patch for windows updates if this is an earlier release of VeraCrypt. All in all everything is running good and secure. ** I chose VeraCrypt over BitLocker because VeraCrypt encryption techniques have been impossible to break, BitLocker was causing some login issues for some other techs, and it is open source code with no back doors. ** One feature that would be a time-saver for administrators would be a centrally-managed controller capable of updating all remote client encryption passwords/keys/pins. Company policies for the likes of financial firms and others require passwords/keys/pins to change periodically or when employees seek other opportunities. ** A problem that I am currently researching is when the windows server crashes when using Acronis to backup a data directory across a vpn to a VeraCrypt container within a NAS mapped as a drive(smb2 connectivity). A robocopy does not cause this, but I cannot yet declare fault. ** Helpful links I found using the following search criteria since urls are prohibited. ** How Do I Encrypt a Hard Drive Using VeraCrypt? ** Windows 10 media patcher for upgrading VeraCrypt-encrypted systems ** Windows 10 1703 update fails to install ** Can I use VeraCrypt to encrypt both drives in my laptop? ** Enable BitLocker, Automatically save Keys to Active Directory ** Remotely BitLocking ** Windows Encryption Showdown: VeraCrypt vs Bitlocker ** Enable Bitlocker remotely on 1000+ Desktops
  • Had no problem at all, encrypter nearly 30 computers in my company.
  • I love Veracrypt, been using it for several years. I use it to encrypt volumes on my Mac, Windows 7 & 10, and my Ubuntu rigs. If you use it correctly there are no problems. Unfortunately, there are a few people who don't understand the purpose of encryption nor follow the software instructions. Plus some fail to realize the importance of keeping an accurate record of their password. And the number 1 USER problem is a failure to make backups!!
  • Veracrypt is the best software for encryption and one of the best all time softwares. It encrypts hard drives, partitions ( with system or not ), and it creates "containers" which are encrypted files which may contain everything ( files and folders ), which can then, be used as volumes ( Like ISOs ) mounted by veracrypt on your computer. These volumes, when mounted, appear like a new drive letter. The use of containers is excellent, because you don´t have to format your hard drives, and you can cross-platform these containers, or even save them on DVDs or other removable media. Veracrypt offers even three layers of encryption ( Could be 5 ? ), making it´s algorith literally unbreakable. It´s very easy to use, and you can for instance, create a small container just to put your sensible data, such as all your passwords, files and folders. One of the best all time softwares, and very very easy to use.

  • Best software for encryption on the market.
  • Veracrypt 1.22 (64bit) is a disaster. VeraCrypt deny to mount 2 encrypted Disks I receive the same error message: Mountvolume:8090 I sent email to company IDRIX (support Veracrypt ) for help, but NO answer I read entire help files, I searched entire veracrypt site, but NO result. CONCLUSION 1) Veracrypt is UNSTABLE 2) Veracrypt must be used ONLY for experiment, Not for normal use. 3) Veracrypt must be used ONLY by programmers who can correct the source code , who can find and solve problems. This is Not for intermediate or advanced users. 4) Veracrypt has NO SUPPORT, NO HELP. If you are using Veracrypt, you are " Alone with source code". Veracrypt REJECTED

  • Many people lose their data because the software has bugs in it. We lost very important client information due to the bugs in this software. Just Google something like "Veracrypt wrong password" and you should see the threads where Veracrypt no longer accepts your password and will not decrypt your data.

  • Such an awesome tool, i've been using it for some years now and i have only positive things to say about it. If you want solid good strong encrypted system with no backdoors what so ever, then i can think of no other tool than Veracrypt. Thank you for this product and thank you for keeping it updated. I fear the days when it's no longer maintained, but i hope that never will happen.
  • VeraCrypt destroyed my computer. I lost very important files. I've been a TrueCrypt user for many years and never had any problems! After reading the boards one thing is clear : there is no support from anyone becuase it's a free product. Second: VeraCrypt is such an underdeveloped product that you WILL run into problems eventually and lose your data!

  • Great successor to TrueCrypt. Thank you! :-)
  • The best project for your safety. If you are concerned about your security, you should protect your files with VeraCrypt right now. Totally recommended.
  • Security issues from TC and VC audits are released. VC1.19 performance is ++30% for AES vs TX 7.1a. Active development is ongoing as of 2017-06-22. External tools were merged in (expander). Additional algorithms added. Conversion tool is added. Supports old and new volumes. Only issue is that the builds and code are in multiple locations, but the RC/beta builds are only here (not many references here). Also, some links in the binary still point to codeplex, which is end of life.
  • I've been a truecrypt user since 2005 and have just moved to VC to grow with its successor and adapt my newer hardware to the VC platform. I waited 3 years and watching it evolve and am pleased they have the tenacity to p****vere and move forward. The community has grown large enough to provide a momentum of support above those of the developers, who would be hard pressed to answer so many queries. I had trouble with earlier versions prior to 1.23b encrypting the boot partition in Win10. Until that version, I used only containers for Win10 and use the client to access truecrypt drives. After 6 months of testing on an Acer laptop and desktop using Win10, 1.23b is reliable and stable after multiple Win 10 security updates, and the 1809 and 1903 feature updates.
  • Great application to keep your information secure.

  • It would be impossible to keep personal data secure without it.

  • Been using this for a year or three now, and it works really well, can't fault it. Esp. with the CPU hardware support for AES, (on a core-i5) it's completely transparent.
