My girlfriend really loves this software! She wants to repair the home right now!

Despite some good work on music and graphics, wesnoth is the most annoying game ever invented. One of the biggest deceitfulness is the clueless claim to be a strategic game, while it is only a chance based board, something between gambling and card games.
And no more interest can be added trying the online game, because the worst is the 'community', you have the feeling that this is some social experiment to measure how much impolite thing can go on. Regarding this point, inappropriate reactions from so-called moderators are worsening the whole stuff.

An excellent Project. Very inspiring! But there are both problems and good point to talk about. Let me start with the bad news... At first one (a Ubuntu user) might encounter silly problems just locating, downloading and installing the game, because some packages on Ubuntu Software Center is just add-ons and does not include the game itself or direct you to where it is. After installing the game first appears dated in its mechanics and maybe even a bit boring. There is a LOT of text and the graphics are not to fancy at first. But start with the tutorial and the game quickly draws you in - in a good way. It just took about 10 minutes for me, thats all. So dont judge the game on first impressions or some random screenshots! It is in fact very varied and creatively designed. Always a new twist to every stage and campaign. The artwork grows on you and the music is just outstanding. Im still overwhelmed, that such a quality could be created in an OpenSource environment. It still has a lot of text you need to read, but thats part of the turn-based style and I find it more an more acceptable each time and maybe even great at times. Im an oldtime tabletop gamer, and if you like tabletop games or miss those grand ol dungeon-fights with self-painted minatures, you come to the right place! There really is a certain quality and strategic-fix in the turnbased style. On top of all this the mapeditor and the on-line possibilities, add lots and lots of extra zest to the game. I think this game and its community has a bright future :-) Thanks a lot to David White and all the hundreds of contributors :-)
