Open Source IDL Earth Sciences Software

The Airborne Data Processing and Analysis (ADPAA) package is an open-source software package containing a collection of programs and scripts to process and analyze data from in-situ instruments deployed on airborne platforms. The ADPAA package was started to process data on the North Dakota Citation Research Aircraft but has been used to process data on many airborne platforms. It can read time series in various formats, detect outliers, remove abnormal observation spans, find jumps, extract common-mode components(CMC), etc.

OVATION Prime is a seasonal model of the diffuse, monoenergetic, proton, and wave aurora. The OVATION Prime model is written in IDL and was developed at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU-APL) by Patrick Newell and co-workers. This current version includes updates to the retrospective and real time components, several efficiency enhancements and a user configuration as implemented by Rob Redmon and Janet Machol of NOAA. This is a community model. Users are invited to suggest and provide improvements. Documentation includes a model description and instructions for running the software.
