Egoboo is a working cool 3D dungeon crawling game in the spirit of nethack. Currently it is supported by Windows, Linux and Mac.

A tool to help you design crosswords by hand, though there are automated functions to suggest words, or even fill in grids. You create a grid, add clues by hand, then use the cut and paste tools to transfer to a wordprocessing or other desktop publishing package. So a nice tool for education, if you're running a club magazine or parish newsletter, or similar use. You can transfer files in the semi-standard xpf format, supported by some other crossword-editing software. There's also a completely portable random crossword generator. It's an independent program, but shares a lot of code with Crossword Designer.

Phlipple is a unique puzzle game. The goal of every level is to reduce a 3D shape to a single square. Elimination of squares is done by flipping edges around just like in a cardboard box. It starts off relatively easy to teach the basics just to later on serve hours of brain tickling fun. It's a great way to train memory as well as orientation in 3D.

Simple Sokoban is a (simple) Sokoban game aimed at playability and portability across systems. It is written in ANSI C89, using SDL for user interactions. I developed it natively under x86_64 Linux, but it should compile just fine on virtually anything that has a C compiler and the SDL library.
