Open Source Go Runtimes

An industry-standard container runtime with an emphasis on simplicity, robustness and portability. As of February 28, 2019, containerd is officially a graduated project within the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, following Kubernetes, Prometheus, Envoy, and CoreDNS. We'd like to thank the amazing containerd community for making this all possible and we're excited for the future of the project. containerd is available as a daemon for Linux and Windows. It manages the complete container lifecycle of its host system, from image transfer and storage to container execution and supervision to low-level storage to network attachments and beyond. Management of network namespaces containers to join existing namespaces. Network primitives for creation, modification, and deletion of interfaces. Multi-tenant supported with CAS storage for global images.

Tengo is a small, dynamic, fast, secure script language for Go. Tengo is fast and secure because it's compiled/executed as bytecode on stack-based VM that's written in native Go. Securely Embeddable and Extensible. Compiler/runtime written in native Go (no external deps or cgo). Executable as a standalone language / REPL. Use cases, rules engine, state machine, data pipeline, transpiler. If you need to evaluate a simple expression, you can use Eval function instead.

The Lambda Runtime Interface Emulator is a proxy for Lambda’s Runtime and Extensions APIs, which allows customers to locally test their Lambda function packaged as a container image. It is a lightweight web-server that converts HTTP requests to JSON events and maintains functional parity with the Lambda Runtime API in the cloud. It allows you to locally test your functions using familiar tools such as cURL and the Docker CLI (when testing functions packaged as container images). It also simplifies running your application on additional computes. You can include the Lambda Runtime Interface Emulator in your container image to have it accept HTTP requests instead of the JSON events required for deployment to Lambda. This component does not emulate Lambda’s orchestrator, or security and authentication configurations. You can get started by downloading and installing it on your local machine.

Atomix is a cloud-native runtime for building stateful, scalable, configurable, and reliable distributed applications in Kubernetes. The Atomix API provides a set of high-level building blocks (referred to as distributed primitives) for building distributed systems. The architecture of Atomix incorporates the lessons learned from experience over the past decade of building high-availability cloud infrastructure. The primary focus of the project is to decouple applications from specific data stores, instead providing a set of unified, polyglot interfaces (gRPC services) to a variety of systems and protocols, and enabling rapid experimentation and customization of distributed applications. The Atomix runtime provides a unified API across numerous databases and protocols, decoupling application code from data stores to enable applications to be developed independently of the underlying architecture.
