LAME is an educational tool to be used for learning about MP3 encoding. The goal of the LAME project is to improve the psycho acoustics, quality and speed of MP3 encoding. Note: we provide source code only!

ffdshow is an advanced DirectShow filter and Video for Windows codec (VFW) codec that supports many audio and video formats. For example: H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, H.263, VP3, VP6, Theora, MJPEG, SVQ3, MP3, AC3, DTS, E-AC3, AAC, and Vorbis.

Mikmod is a module player and library supporting many formats, including mod, s3m, it, and xm. Originally a player for MS-DOS, MikMod has been ported to other platforms, such as Unix, Macintosh, BeOS, and Java(!!)

MMC is a commander-style media player for Windows, with native, hw accelerated video playing and translucent gui. Mpxplay is a console audio player for DOS and Win32 operating systems. x264vfw, x265vfw and xAV1vfw are video for windows encoder and decoder codecs, useful with VirtualDub.

FLAC is a free lossless compressed audio format which supports streaming and archival. The FLAC project maintains the format and provides a reference encoder/decoder and input plugins for several popular audio players.

LSP (Linux Studio Plugins) is a collection of open-source plugins currently compatible with LADSPA, LV2 and LinuxVST formats. Standalone plugins for JACK are provided since version 1.0.8. Experimental support of ARMv7 added since version 1.1.4 Experimental support of AArch64 added since version 1.1.9 Decomposition of modules and new UI introduced in 1.2.0 Added CLAP support in 1.2.5 Added VST3 support in 1.2.15 The basic idea is to fill the lack of good and useful plugins under the GNU/Linux platform. After some contributions to other open source projects the decision was made to implement separate and independent plugin distribution.

The Rockbox project produces an open source firmware replacement for portable Digital Music Players, currently supporting Archos, iriver and iPod models with more platforms being worked on.

A native Commodore 64 program that can play SID files from the High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC). It will run from any C64 friendly device. SID songs will be played back at correct speed on both PAL and NTSC computers. Now also supports SIDFX, Turbo Chameleon and BASIC sid files and lastly, a inject song length tool to play songs at correct lengths.

MplayerXP is branch of well known mplayer (http://mplayerhq.hu) which is based on new (thread based) core. Main goal of this project is to achieve smoothness of video playback due monotonous CPU loading.

dvd2xbox is a DVD/CD-R to hdd copy program for the xbox which supports the formats UDF/ISO9660/CDDA (Audio 2 Ogg ripping with freecddb naming, dvd ripping with libdvdread). It provides a simple all at once copy mode and a win commander style disc browser

Juno 6 is an VST based virtual Analogue Synthesizer for Windows written in C++, that emulates the sound technics of the original Roland Juno 6/60 Synthesizer. the project itself is based on the ultramaster juno 6 linux sources

The program lets you draw lines and scattered dots on the screen with the Mouse. When you press the Space-bar it scans the screen and converts the drawing into sounds. Each pixel on the screen is converted into a sound, and there is an unfinished idea it can form harmonics. It can make several sound effects, and it's even possible that it can be used to create some music. Its complete source code is there as a single ASM file which can be assembled instantly with the free FASMW compiler.
