Hi, update your sources from CVS, this problem is already fixed there. Use "cvs_sf -d -P" !!! Those parameters are important, because some files where moved. And as I wrote earlier, don't try to compile Samba. cu Heiko Gunther Stammwitz wrote: >got another file... > >is my harddisk broken or what ?? > >tar: Hmm, this doesn't look like a tar archive >tar: Skipping to next file header >tar: Archive /data/build/src/linux-2.4.17acl-0.7.27.patch.gz EOF not on >block boundary >tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now >make: *** [unpack] Error 1 > > >unpacking /data/build/src/rrlogind-sv-1.3.3.tar.gz >unpacking /data/build/src/samba-2.2.2-destdir.patch.gz >tar: Archive /data/build/src/samba-2.2.2-destdir.patch.gz EOF not on block >boundary >tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now >make: *** [unpack] Error 1 >root:/data/build# rm /data/build/src/samba-2.2.2-destdir.patch.gz > > >-----Ursprungliche Nachricht----- >Von: dev...@li... >[mailto:dev...@li...]Im Auftrag von >Gunther Stammwitz >Gesendet: Sonntag, 27. Hi, be carefull, when you update your sources. When you run "make menuconfig", don't select "Samba", it won't run. I had to check it in, to have a backup. Something is strange with the LFS system, which we currently use. The binaries are much bigger, as when I compile them (with same setting) under my SuSE Linux 7.3 and I couldn't figure out why. I'll start creating a LFS 3.1 system, let's see if this works better. cu Heiko |

Hi,
about the patches.
I just had to add some patches to different packages.
My suggestion:
- compress the patches with gzip
- leave the patch in build/src
- apply the patch with to command zcat
$DL_DIR/src/somepatch.gz | patch -N
This should work fine, without creating hundrets of tar-balls.

Hi! Heiko thought this project could be interesting to you: Project name: libhardware and scanmodule Author: AGX (www.badpenguin.org) <http://freshmeat.net/~agx/> About: libhardware is a very small static library used in many utilities that are part of Antonio Gallo's (AGX) GNU/Linux distribution, "Bad Penguin". It provides functions to access information about your system hardware, to detect the hardware, and to handle kernel modules automatically. It is able to enumerate all PCI devices, enumerate all EIDE disks and CDROMs, enumerate all SCSI disks and CDROMs, enumerate all EIDE/SCSI disk partitions, and check if a detected device is supported in the Linux kernel using a custom PCI database. The included shell scripts 'probedisk' and 'probepart' detect disks, CDROMs, and partitions. The included 'scanmodule' utility allows you to detect and load kernel module automatically. Homepage: http://freshmeat.net/redir/libhardware/16175/url_homepage/ Tar/GZ: http://freshmeat.net/redir/libhardware/16175/url_tgz/ Mailing list archive: http://freshmeat.net/redir/libhardware/16175/url_list/ More information can be obtained from the freshmeat.net project page at http://freshmeat.net/projects/libhardware/ Comments from Heiko: Could be interesting. Especially the part with disk and partition detection. Sincerely, freshmeat.net |

Feature Requests item #508851, was opened at 2002-01-26 03:08 You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=508851&group_id=34096 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Gunther Stammwitz (gstammw) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: add rshaper QOS Initial Comment: rshaper is a Linux kernel module that limits the incoming bandwidth for packets aimed at different hosts ("incoming" meaning traffic that enters the shaping host; if that host is a gateway between target hosts and the rest of the Internet, all the traffic of the target hosts will be shapeable). It's useful for ISPs who offer housing and want to differentiate their offers and for limiting download bandwidth from students' boxes or similar setups. It works with versions 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4 of the kernel; with 2.4 it can also shape outgoing traffic. http://ar.linux.it/software/#rshaper ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=508851&group_id=34096 |

Feature Requests item #508850, was opened at 2002-01-26 03:05 You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=508850&group_id=34096 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Gunther Stammwitz (gstammw) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: add HTB QOS Initial Comment: http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/htbman.htm HTB is meant as a more understandable and intuitive replacement for the CBQ qdisc in Linux. Both CBQ and HTB help you to control the use of the outbound bandwidth on a given link. Both allow you to use one physical link to simulate several slower links and to send different kinds of traffic on different simulated links. In both cases, you have to specify how to divide the physical link into simulated links and how to decide which simulated link to use for a given packet to be sent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=508850&group_id=34096 |
