Vipul's Razor is a distributed, collaborative, spam detection and
filtering network that exploits the broadcast characteristic of spam
distribution to limit its propagation. The primary focus of the
system is to identify and disable an email spam before its injection
and processing is complete. Razor establishes a distributed and
constantly updating catalogue of spam in propagation. This catalogue
is used by clients to filter out known spam.

Project description:
syslog-ng, as the name shows, is a syslogd replacement, but with new
functionality for the new generation. The original syslogd allows
messages only to be sorted based on priority/facility pairs;
syslog-ng adds the possibility to filter based on message contents
using regular expressions. The new configuration scheme is intuitive
and powerful. Forwarding logs over TCP and remembering all forwarding
hops makes it ideal for firewalled environments.

libtiff provides support for the Tag Image File Format (TIFF), a
widely used format for storing image data. The latest version of the
TIFF specification is available on-line in several different formats,
as are a number of TIFF Technical Notes (TTN's). Included in this
software distribution is a library, libtiff, for reading and writing
TIFF, a small collection of tools for doing simple manipulations of
TIFF images on UNIX systems, and documentation on the library and
tools. A small assortment of TIFF-related software for UNIX that has
been contributed by others is also included. The library, along with
associated tool programs, should handle most of your needs for
reading and writing TIFF images on 32- and 64-bit machines.

Several workarounds have been provided for bogus Perl I/O status
problems which may cause failures on certain combinations of Perl
versions and operating systems. LDAP internals were changed to
parallel the SQL code, improving efficiency and retry attempts.
Temporary failures when $MAXFILES limit is exceeded during MIME
decoding are now avoided. A protocol selection bug in Courier and
QMQPqq setups was fixed. The log file or syslog connection is
reopened in each child process. The program is ready for the coming
version 3.1 of SpamAssassin.

Project description:
amavisd-new is a high-performance and reliable  interface between MTAs
and one or more content  checkers, including virus scanners, and/or
the  Mail::SpamAssasin Perl module. It talks to the MTA via  (E)SMTP
or LMTP, or by using helper programs. No  timing gaps exist in the
design, which could cause a  mail loss. It is normally positioned at
or near a central  mailer, not necessarily where the user's mailboxes
and  final delivery takes place.

The mkpasswd code has been removed. userdel now deletes user groups
from /etc/gshdow as well as /etc/group. When relocating a user's home
directory, usermod will not fail and remove the new home directory if
it can't remove the old home directory for some reason. The PAM
session needs to be closed as root, thus before change_uid(). The use
of SHADOWPWD #define has been removed, so now shadow is always built
with shadow password support. Most of the man pages are now generated
from XML files. There are other minor fixes.

DSPAM is a server-side statistical anti-spam agent for Unix email
servers. It masquerades as the email server's local delivery agent
and effectively filters spam using a combination of de-obfuscation
techniques, specialized algorithms, and statistical analysis. The
result is an administratively maintenance-free, self-learning
anti-spam tool. DSPAM has yielded real-world success rates beyond
99.9% accuracy with less than a 0.01% chance of false positives.

Nail is a mail user agent derived from Berkeley Mail. It provides the
functionality of the System V and POSIX mailx commands. Additional
features include support for MIME, IMAP (including caching and
disconnected use), POP3, SMTP, S/MIME, international character sets,
maildir folders, message threading, powerful search methods, scoring,
and a Bayesian junk mail filter. Nail can be used as a mail batch
language in nearly the same way as it is used interactively. It can
thus act as a mailbox filter, can fetch mail from remote accounts,
and can send files as attachments.

This release fixes a memory leak in ioconf parsing functions used by
sar and iostat. sar now displays its statistics to STDOUT in addition
to saving them into the file when the option -o has been entered on
the commandline. sar now recalculates the number of system items
(network interfaces, disks, serial lines, etc.) when a file rotation
happens. sar -b works again when used without -d. Small have been
made changes so sysstat can be compiled with gcc 4.0.1.

The sysstat package contains the sar, mpstat, and iostat commands for
Linux. The sar command collects and reports system activity
information. This information can also be saved in a system activity
file for future inspection. The iostat command reports CPU statistics
and I/O statistics for tty devices and disks. The statistics reported
by sar concern I/O transfer rates, paging activity, process-related
activites, interrupts, network activity, memory and swap space
utilization, CPU utilization, kernel activities, and TTY statistics,
among others. Both UP and SMP machines are fully supported.

lftp is a sophisticated command line based file transfer program.
Supported protocols include FTP, HTTP, SFTP, and FISH. It has a
multithreaded design allowing you to issue and execute multiple
commands simultaneously or in the background. It also features
mirroring capabilities and will reconnect and continue transfers in
the event of a disconnection. Also, if you quit the program while
transfers are still in progress, it will switch to nohup mode and
finish the transfers in the background. Additional protocols
supported: FTP over HTTP proxy, HTTPS and FTP over SSL. There are
lots of tunable parameters, including rate limitation, number of
connections limitation and more.
