#104 install fails on OS X 10.13

No

Expect version: 5.45.4
OS: 10.13.4
Problem behavior: make install fails trying to write to /usr/lib/
Expected behavior: install succeeds

Presumably this is caused by the new-ish System Integrity Protection feature. Changing prefix and exec_prefix to /usr/local worked for me.

I guess instrutions could be added to the web page, or we could try to autodect mac os x and change the default path.

Would installing to /usr/local/ on other Unix platforms work too?
