I'm very keen the shop should support European 'minority' languages. The project should support the celtic languages of Welsh, Breton, Scots Gaelic, Irish Gaelic. Why should English be the only language of the web, its not even the only language of the British Isles.
I'm pleased to announce that the system now supports Welsh with a Welsh language translation of the vocabulary file being supplied. Now anyone can create a Welsh language e-commerce shop, or include Welsh as an option in their multi-lingual shop with ease.
<p>The first version of the shop has been released.
Its a development version, dont expect it to work completely, but it does work more or less.</p>
<p>Known incomplete functionality includes, the affiliate system, sales reporting and major parts of the administration interface. Additionally the image upload system has not been tested. The only currently supported languages are French and English, and the French is very much <i>du baraguin</i>. No payment systems are yet explicitly supported although integrating such systems should not be a problem.</p>
I invited another PHP programmer to get involved with the project, no word yet, but we'll see.
Time to get busy. Like all projects its 90% complete, so you know its going to need some serious discipline and project management to get it finished. No code uploads yet. I need to make everything a bit more generic before I'm ready to release it as pre-alpha.
