Hi,

My Postfix service is now working after I restored main.cf and master.cf Postfix configuration files from the backup archive “virtualmin.tar.gz”.

I can now receive emails.

May I know which other configuration files I would need to restore from the backup archive “virtualmin.tar.gz”??? In case I miss out something.

Please advise.

Dear Virtualmin and Webmin community,

I have stopped receiving emails since 11 Jan 2025 Saturday at about 3.00 AM.

I tried rebooting my AlmaLinux 9.5 Virtual Private Server (VPS) and restarting Postfix but to no avail.

Whenever I try to start Postfix, the service would be killed by the OOM Killer almost immediately.

Running "systemctl status postfix" shows oom-kill.

When I checked /var/log/messages, many related services were also killed by the OOM Killer.

But this is strange. This should not be happening at all because I have 8 GB of physical memory for my VPS.

But I do notice there were 100+ messages inside the Postfix message queue. Did my email account(s) get compromised by hackers?

Then I tried uninstalling the Postfix package and reinstalling Postfix from within Virtualmin.

After doing this, there were no more oom-kill error messages but Postfix is still not working!

I suspect that all the Postfix configuration was lost after uninstalling and reinstalling. The message queue was also reduced to zero.

Before flying to Seoul, South Korea on 7 Jan 2025 Tuesday, I had made a backup of all Virtual Servers and all Virtualmin settings on 5 Jan 2025 Sunday.

Inside the backup archive "virtualmin.tar.gz", I have the following backup files.

It only shows active leases.
Expired leases may be left in the file but they are not useful nor used in any way.

Sorry about the off-topic post, but I figured there are plenty of 
seasoned Linux "root users" here, and even some with Perl knowledge :-)


Is anyone aware of a patch, or addition, for pflogsumm that will parse 
the mail log entry:


"Aug 17 01:30:17 myserver postfix/pickup[536842]: 8617517051D: uid=1138 from=<some.address>"


If you're using canonical mapping, the sender has been rewritten by the 
time the entry that pflogsumm parses is written to the log.

If I read this correctly, it's due to an update by Ubuntu for

Virtualmin GPL, if installed using *virtualmin-install.sh* script also
provides Webmin.

And, to fix repos just run the command in my first reply.

Try running :
cat /usr/share/webmin/webmin/developers-key.asc | gpg --dearmor >/usr/share/keyrings/debian-webmin-developers.gpg

If you're using Virtualmin, you should be using the Virtualmin repos for 
Webmin updates, not the Webmin repos.

Can you send a sample of the dhcpd.leases file that contains the leases that aren't showing up? The issue may be that Webmin isn't parsing the file properly..

Everything used to work/display just fine but suddenly, when trying to list the dynamic leases within a subnet, I get the message, "The DHCPd lease file /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases does not contain any leases that are active at the current time."  If I click on the List all active and expired leases button, I get the message "The DHCPd lease file /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases does not contain any leases."  Clearly, when I use a text editor on the /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases file, all the leases exist, new clients receive new IP addresses and existing ones are able to renew successfully.  The leases that _DO_ show up are from wireless subnets or subnets not directly connected to our campus.  I'm not the only one who admin
 isters this server/service so the Webmin module is really helpful and currently missed.  Any suggestions for troubleshooting and correcting this issue.  Everything in the /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf file agrees with the current operation.
