Not sure what part of "Wipe all disks" was unclear to r4545, but it sounds to me like it worked exactly as described.
Nice to see an update - my old copy of DBAN 1.0.4 was getting a little long in the tooth.

Only distributed as a CD-ROM, which wastes plastic. Yes I know I can make a bootable USB/PXE from an ISO.
Log file doesnt write to USB. Who has a floppy drive anymore?
Finishes with full screen advertising for Blancco.
Many unanswered questions in bugs/forums.
No support for newer hardware
No longer maintained.
No longer in the spirit of open source, killed off for Blancco's commercial interests.

It works very well, although I found that on older computers, older versions of DBAN work more reliably. The newest version kept crashing on some old computers I was nuking prior to installing Linux. An older version of DBAN (1.0.7) worked just fine. This is a good product to use in preparing older computers for a new life with Linux. That's what I do with them before donating them to charities.

used an outdated version of dban which worked flawlessly. have recently updated to the most recent version. it does not provide the option to wipe a partition any more?! is it only possible to wipe entire partitions or is there a way to select single partitions, too? many tks!

IMPORTANT - You must download the right version for your hardware. For a PC you need a version with i386 or i586 in the name. For a Mac Power PC you need a version with powerpc in the name. See www.dban.org/download

Best way to DESTROY data. Be careful and make sure you are wiping the right drive. Once you press OK It's a done deal....

VERY VERY GOOD

simply does what it's supposed to do, wipe a disk clean with your choice of levels and associated time to do so. unknown version I was using a a non-profit choked on an internal IDE zip drive, but once the cable to it was removed, all went fine.

Too many bugs: kernel panics, the program that ends after a few minutes when a normal wipe takes days, ecc.ecc. I cannot see other development since 2007
