I have been ripping entire DVD series to digital and needed a way to handle each VOB on its own and needed a way to save the .srt as the VOB name coming in. I grabbed SubRip 1.57.1 and modified it to do those things.
My process:
DVD Decrypter to pull the VOBs off the disks.
I keep each DVD under separate names under the bigger Series name.
I move the Special features to their own folder.
I then do a DIR *.VOB /S /B to get a listing of just episode entries. I take that and put in in a spreadsheet in column A and I have a C# program that will go to IMDB and rip out each episode real name and put that in column B. In column C I have =CONCATENATE("move """,A1,""" ""\Outlander\",B1,".VOB"" ")
When I get all the seasons and episodes accounted for I then cut the text the scrip created and run that into a DOS prompt which renames all the VOB names to something meaningful. I then use Handbreak to process the entire folder. While that is running I use my version of SubRip.

- Modified to have larger font on the VOB name field.
- Added check boxes for same VOB name and break on VOB.
- Enlarged some screen areas to better fit.
- Moved the display box of SRT text to be lower on the screen.
- Removed some up/down item that did nothing and the compiler kept prompting to remove it.
- This is a work in progress. I'm 62 and started on punch card.

The 1.57.1 version looks to have an issue with some character separation for some images. IE: Outlander seasons 1-6 processed fine though the code I wrote. It only pauses for the post character correction and the save process. Hitting Enter twice walks through that and into the next VOB. When I got to season 7, the overall image of the text looked fine but when SubRip was showing the individual character in question, there were white lines going across. My next task is to review that code and see if I can find why the white lines. SubRip mentions needing some other software. I'll need to see if that software is what is handling the images and if it needs to be updated. If not, I'll dig into Unit07-Unit08 and see what's up.
