UFRaw

The UFRaw (Unidentified Flying Raw) is a tool for reading and manipulating raw images from digital cameras. It supports most of the existing raw formats (any format supported by DCRaw). UFRaw can be used on its own or as a Gimp plug-in.

I like UFRaw supports my old Sigma SD 14. Use it with B+W filter to get infrared photos, because they need no regular color image extraction.

Running Gimp 2.8 on Linux Mint 17.3 Works great! Easy installation and opens Nikon NEF files perfectly!
