I have been using twm for almost 30 years, and for the last 5 or so years have had some practical problems because the official twm releases do not support Xft/truetype fonts AFAICT. Given that the older XLFD/bitmap fonts are becoming more and more rare to find in modern linux distributions, the readability of twm iconmanagers have suffered (could only get very grainy and/or ill-sized fonts in ubuntu 18). So I looked for alternatives, including patching twm-1.03 with some Xft/truetype support code from Eeri Kask (great stuff, BTW!!). But since twm-1.09 is now the latest (and the patches are not in that official version), I looked for alternatives. I discovered that vtwm-5.5.0 had Xft/truetype included, and it was easy to compile in ubuntu 18 as well as fedora 25. After working out two kinks with great help from Callum Gibson (on this site, Discussion tab) I am in business and quite happy with the result. (v)twm forever!! Down with the window managers that do not have f.deltastop functionality and WM_NAME-selected iconmanagers!!

Been using vtwm for quite a long time, very light weight. The beta version is .extremely stable, with the addition of True-Type font you cannot go wrong if you want a stable fast work environment.

Been using twm for years and have played with fluxbox quite a bit - discovered vtwm recently and have to say its faster than either and just as configurable! A single rc file makes it neat / tidy! Keep up the good work!

For a portable, clean, lightweight window manager, you need look no further. For glitz, you do.
