This is a derivative and transformation of the "Controls" documentation hosted on GitHub. here. https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/win32

This started out as just a test to see how much effort it took to convert to off-line. It takes a LOT! But since I started it I finished it. Hope it can be of use to others.

Since the GitHub docs are not complete there are still links back to the Microsoft web site too. Out of 23,313 links, 6138 are external HTTPS links. Only a few don't go to the MS Doc site. MSHTML.DLL still reports itself as IE so some sites will complain. MS site says get EDGE, but shows the page.

This documentation is transformed into HTML format and MSHC format from the original in Markdown. The HTML files are compiled into a standard Microsoft® .chm format, with editing only to show a suitable display output in the .chm format, and some, IMO, notation consistency improvements. The MSHC is placed in a standard Microsoft® .cab format.

Features

  • Controls API in .chm format easily usable offline (mostly)
  • Controls API in .mshc format sans index and toc (untested in Visual Studio)
  • Same MIT and Creative Commons license as GitHub source
