FWIW, as a new user of this software, I just spent a ton of time trying to figure out why I couldn't rename my new notes. It turns out that you simply can't rename them until they're saved. That would have been really great to know. Perhaps, instead of disabling the rename option, you could have it trigger a message if the note isn't saved that explains. Or, make it possible to rename it temporarily, until it is saved. I mean, you say "there is nothing to rename", but the note does exist and it says...

The project does seem a lot less dead now that there has been an update (2016-01-08)....
