This email is to inform you of release '9.2.1' of 'bind' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/bind/ The changes in this release are as follows: This is a maintenance release of BIND 9.2. It contains no new features. Project description: The Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) implements an Internet name server for Unix operating systems. The BIND consists of a server (or `daemon') called `named' and a resolver library. A name server is a network service that enables clients to name resources or objects and share this information with other objects in the network. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. This email is to inform you of release '4.9' of 'hdparm' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/hdparm/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version fixes a compile error with 2.5.x kernels. Project description: hdparm is a Linux shell utility for viewing and manipulating various IDE drive and driver parameters. Most drives can benefit from improved performance using a command similar to "hdparm -qm8 -qu1 -qc1 -qW1 -qd1 /dev/hda" If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. This email is to inform you of release '1.73-pre9' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: Some additional reworking has been performed on the SYSLINUX internals. It is getting pretty close to what may end up being a release candidate for 1.73. Project description: SYSLINUX is a boot loader for the Linux operating system which operates off of MS-DOS floppies. It is intended to simplify first-time installation of Linux, rescue disks, and other uses for boot floppies. A SYSLINUX floppy can be manipulated using standard MS-DOS (or any other OS that can access an MS-DOS filesystem) tools once it has been created, and requires only a ~ 8K DOS program or ~ 16K Linux program to create it in the first place. It also includes PXELINUX, a program to boot off a network server using a boot PROM compatible with the Intel PXE (Pre-Execution Environment) specification, ISOLINUX, a program to boot off ISO 9660 CD-ROMs in native mode, and MEMDISK, a tool to boot legacy operating systems (e.g. DOS) using a Linux boot loader regardless of medium. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. Hello all,
I have chosen Devil-Linux as the base product for Linux Society operations
because it, in beta format, is both bleeding edge and stable. It has also been
a pure joy to work with.
Brian wrote:

A few years ago, I was promoting Trinux for as the basis for a product plan I
had known as the ThinMan. ThinMan has now become ThinMan/FAT and has a
sophisticated yet deceptively simple model designed to pull the rest of the 6
billion humans into the Internet fold.
I like Devil-Linux in every respect:
Its packaging --> tgz
Its configuration --> /mnt/floppy/etc.tar.gz
Its media --> /dev/hd(c|d)
Its f/s protocol --> LVM
I have worked w/ lnx-bbc and it is very nice, Xwindows works very well. I
would very much like to burn Kloopix but the 600Mb download...
Devil-Linux perfectly fits the present Linux Society needs, and time allowing,
my next project is to flesh out the Linux Society's Devil-Linux/LSD harddrive
to include /usr/bin/X11 and /usr/gcc.
This is to create the development environment that we need to contribute to
Devil-Linux and develop our own LSD. Linux Society is commited ~not~ to
changing the Devil-Linux model since we want to use DL CDs as our
distribution...
But we also want to contribute to development, for this we will need gcc and
probably X as well for multipe Xterms
For the time being this should work until we get a development ISO
And think of the costs:
ISO in CD: 0.50 $$
Floppy /etc/: 0.50 $$
250-1000 MB swap hard drive: free or better
~and~
LVM: PRICELESS !!!!

This email is to inform you of release '1.0' of 'Diald' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/diald/ The changes in this release are as follows: All known bugs have being fixed. Project description: Diald manages network links, particularly on-demand links such as dial-up SLIP or PPP. It can also be used to manage and/or monitor any network interface. Diald monitors traffic on the link and makes intelligent (and highly configurable) decisions as to when the link should be brought up or taken down. The included control program, dctrl, runs on any system with Tcl/Tk (yes, even Windows) and allows diald to be controlled and monitored remotely. This email is to inform you of release '1.73-pre4' of 'Syslinux' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslinux/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version takes the internal code rewrite yet another step, and adds the ability to chainload CD bootstraps as well as PXE network boot programs. Hi!
Heiko thought this project could be interesting to you:
Project name: VServer
Author: Jacques Gélinas <jack at solucorp dot qc dot ca>
About: VServer virtual servers operate like a normal
Linux server, but allow many independent servers
to be run simultaneously in one box. These can
involve normal services such as telnet, mail, Web,
and SQL servers - in most cases using a standard
configuration. The services are unaware of the
virtual server concept. Each virtual server has
its own user account database and root password.
