- added checking for START_IPSEC to FreeS/WAN start script
- updated X.509 Support for FreeS/WAN to v0.93
- updated FreeS/WAN to v1.9.2
- updated Kernel to v2.4.14
  - enabled the following new settings:
    - Connection tracking IRC protocol support
    - IP tables LENGTH match support
    - IP tables TTL match support
    - Full NAT Basic SNMP-ALG support

- moved all the files need by modprobe and depmod to /etc/modules/

I'm not sure, to which release I added DHCP Server.
In the current 0.5beta2 ISC DHCPD is included.

I can't check this at the moment, I have only Email running right now.
Go to sourceforge.net/projects/devil-linux and go to files.
When you click on a release (not the file itself) he is showing you the 
Changelog.
You have to enable it in /etc/sysconfig/software and set in the network 
interface configuration "DHCP=server".

iptables 1.2.4 is already included in 0.5b2
I have this problem with this version. Can't you use numbers in shorewall?

iproute2 is included since v0.4 ;-)
You have to enable the installation of this optional package in 
/etc/sysconfig/software

I'm trying tp get shorewall working with devil. But there's a bug
in iptables 1.2.3 used in 0.5b2 regarding loglevels (string_to_number).

please upgrade to release 1.2.4.

When you're at it, could you add iproute2 (mainly the ip utility)
that is also required by shorewall. iproute2 is a nice to have since 
it's more powerfull than route etc.

There is no kernel module missing. We currently have no script-support 
for scsi-module loading. I want to fix this before the final 0.5 
release. But all modules are included in the distribution.

Your workaround:

Inside initrd you can load the needed scsi modules.
Edit the file /etc/initrd/linuxrc2 and place a line "modprobe aic7xxx" 
*before* this lines:

# find the CDROM
/etc/initrd/mount_cdrom /cdrom

I'm trying to use Devil 0.5b2 on my Dell Server with SCSI on 
the mainboard (AIC 7880) and it won't boot:

Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= ....

is there a way around this? Is there a kernel module
missing?

Sounds like a problem with the floppy disc or the floppy drive, can you 
change both?

Just to make sure, you have copied the file etc.tar.gz to the root of 
the floppy?

Hi everybody !


I have just tried to get devil linux running but got the following
problem:


After showing "Loading Config from floppy I get:

	end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy)


	FAT: unable to read boot sector

I found the description of how to prepare the floppy and did so (
copy the configuration on a FAT formatted floppy)


Any help ?

So from "satan" (Devil-Linux) you can:
 * eg. ping 194.158.136.40 (www.orf.at)

From the internet, eg. Dialup-Account, you can 
 * ping your firewall "satan"

Correct? 

Is the router under your control?

If one of the above assumtions is not true, please privately 
mail Heiko or me your exact configuration:
  * IP-addresses + netmasks (output of "cat etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth?"
  * default gateway and DNS-Server (output of "cat etc/sysconfig/network")
  * output of "netstat -r -n"
  * IPs + netmasks of your router

Hi.

I'd like to know if the lastest version of devil (0.45b2 I suppose)
works with iproute2.
The version 0.42 doesn't work. I need to do transparent proxying with 
Netfilter MARK capability + iproute2. The problem:

~# ./ip rule ls
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
Dump terminated

(possibly the kernel is not compiled to work with iproute2)

I saw a message about this in the list archive, but is not clear to me
if this is working properly on 0.45b2. Could someone confirm it? Thank
you.

I don't think that I would want to run DL from hard disk.

What is on our to-do list is using a hard disk for
e.g. squid, mail-forwarding, logging....

But we have to finish the new build system first. Then 
it is much easier to add the stuff mentioned before.

I don't think so.
Everything is made to run from CD and Ramdisk. This would reflect in 
some deep changes.

!!! BUT !!!
When we have finished the new build system (we currently work very hard 
on it), you can create your own and customized version of DL.
