The changes in this release are as follows:
Multiple swapoff fixes, cleanups to the MIPS parts of the mem.c ifdefs, an
updated (and generic) NCR53c700 driver, recognition of Radeon VE in
radeonfb, an MCE address reporting fix, APIC check fixes, wrong SIGBUS
data
in siginfo fix, ACPI Makefile fix, NTFS update, parse mainboard resources
inline to pnp not as pci_device objects, propogate register_netdev errors
out from init_netdev, took sound lock static, ns83820 updates/fixes, small
arch_init_modules fix for ia64, PCI bridge setup fixes, 64-bit sign
propogation, and another batch of MODULE_LICENSE tags.

It should be.
Take a look in the directory /lib/modules/2.4.9/kernel/drivers/net (hope 
I remember it correct).
  See what modules you find with a name similar to rtl8139 (I have no 
system here in the office, where I can look at). But don't add the ".o" 
to the module name in the ifcfg-xxx file.

Ignore it, that's normal.
I try it on each release, to get rid of this message, but nothing worked 
yet.

Yes.
rc.firewall is for your custom firewalling stuff. But it is netfiler, 
not ipchains!
Take a look in the forum on the homepage, a short time ago, we discussed 
about the firewalling stuff.

Hi there,

    I'm using a 0.44 version in a Pentium 100/32 RAM machine.
    Linux is quite new for me so I'm using the same ethernet cards
auto-detected by a Conectiva 6 instalation [based on Red-hat 6 and very
popular here, in Brazil].
    When the system starts I receive the message above for each of the
interfaces:

    "modprobe: Can't locate module rtl8139"

    Is this kernel compatible with the realtek card ?

    When the system mount and unmount I could see this:

    "VFS: Busy nodes after umount. Self-destruction in 5 seconds. Have a
nice day"

    Another question: Did I have to customize some script [ rc.firewall ?=
! ]
to have my local trafic routed to the internet ? How ? [ipchains masquere=
d
?]

Do you use version 0.44 or the actual beta?
Because in the Beta I forgott the change the file /etc/initrd/linuxrc2.
Find the line with "/bin/sh" and comment it out. Then it should work.

If you use 0.44, create a new config floppy with the default etc.tar.gz
  and try again.

If this doesn't help, can you please provide more information (error 
messages, program output, etc.)

Hi,

the initial root password is <none>, just hit return. ;)

Change the password as usual with the command "passwd".
You can save the configuration back onto the floppy disc with the 
command "save-config". Makwe sure, that you write-protect the floppy 
again, after you updated the config.

Summary: loadscript for scsi modules

Initial Comment:
Version 0.45 has no builtin SCSI drivers.
The modules must be loaded by a script.
2 options should be supported:

autodetect: load all scsi-modules, try to find the cd 
and throw away all non used modules

specific: user should be able to define in a config 
file, which modules should be loaded

Test if it is possible, to put the boot loader on the 
config disc.
This helps for really old computers, which are not 
able to boot directly from CD.

loadlin is really the trick
new version (0.45) is able to boot from floppy
all needed files to start devil linux from DOS are on the cd

16.tgz ).
Create a DOS Floppy with all drivers to get access to the 
CD ROM drive.
I test it, as soon as I find a DOS disc. ;-)

Hi,

for those who want to play around with the upcoming Version:

I forgott the change the file /etc/initrd/linuxrc2
Find the line with "/bin/sh" and comment it out.

SCSI Module Support is not working yet. We need the start-script first. 
Somebody want's to write it? ;-)

Give me your feedback if you find any problems.

Devil-Linux has disable all Power Management Features. Is it possible, 
that you have enabled some Power Management stuff in you BIOS?
