Hi, I started replacing of busybox and tinylogin on the base system ( not initrd !). Util-Linux is implemented and I'm currently working on shadow. There can currently be problems or still Busybox versions be used, until this is fully tested. cu Heiko |

Hi, don't forgett to execute the build/update_src script frequently, to have the latest source files. After a update_src you normally have to do a "make mrproper", depending on what was updated. Also be carefull, when you have sources there, which are not on the server. The program deletes them. cu Heiko |

-------- Original Message -------- Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I will definitely try the vmware tip. I did update just this morning from the sourceforge cvs server (is this the correct cvs server?). Actually, I deleted everything I had pertaining to devil-linux this morning and started over. Here's a clip of the top files in the data/build/scripts directory: -r-xr-xr-x 1 1001 500 820 Dec 16 16:45 cfg_runlevel -rwxr-xr-x 1 1001 500 3323 Dec 15 21:22 functions -r-xr-xr-x 1 1001 500 1688 Dec 15 17:25 menuconfig Again, thanks for helping me out with this one. I love the devil-linux concept and I'm hopeful I can get it to work for me. Best regards, Bill -- H. Hi, update from the CVS tree. This problem was solved last sunday. A small tip, if you have a VMWare license, you can use this for testing. VMWare 3.0 is able to boot from ISO Images. -- cu Heiko http://www.devil-linux.org |

Hi! I have successfully built a cd-image that booted when Heiko last time repaired the build-system. I'll check out the current CVS tree and see if I can reproduce your problem. BTW I do my tests with CD-RWs. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock FL226-RIPE Internetservices URL: http://www.fl.priv.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |

Greetings, I've been trying to build my own devil-linux image for about a week now, and I'm having a problem that was reported and reportedly solved last week. The problem is the kernel and initrd load and the kernel boots, but then panics trying to mount the root filesystem (the error is something like "FAT: bogus logical sector size 0" . It doesn't look like the initrd ever gets mounted, as /linuxrc never runs and the initrd memory gets freed almost immediately before the panic. I started from scratch this morning by redownloading everything, and updated from the build directory from CVS, but the problem persists. I have packages prepared for perl and webmin, but I can't test them because of this problem. I figure I must be missing something simple, but have been going crazy trying to figure it out, and I'm running out of blank discs. :) Can anyone shed any light on this? I'm building this on a RH7 based system, and am following the howto directions quite carefully. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Bill -- H.
